El Galeón, an authentic wooden replica of a 16th century sailing cargo vessel that was part of Spain's West Indies fleet, will be open for tours at the Port of Rochester Marina. Visitors have the opportunity to experience maritime history by walking the decks and exploring the ships quarters.
El Galeón came to the United States from Spain in 2013 to celebrate Florida's 500th anniversary and has visited more than 40 ports. Built in 2009, the ship is 170 feet long and 125 feet tall, has a 30 foot beam, weighs 495 tons and draws 10.5 feet of water. The historic three-masted tall ship is owned and operated by the Nao Victoria Foundation, a Spanish non-profit organization.
