Rochester Committee on Latin America will hold its 27th "Cuba Friendshipment Picnic" at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21. Manolo De Los Santos, a representative of Pastors for Peace, will discuss ending the US embargo against Cuba and how donations help buy medicine for the Cuban people. The event will be held at Cobbs Hill Park. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to pass. Information: Vic Vinkey at 271-8723.
The Hickey Center for Interfaith Studies at Nazareth College will hold two workshops. "Interfaith Immersion: Leadership Skills and Conflict Resolution" is designed for professionals, business managers, teachers, religious leaders, health care and social workers. The weeklong workshop will cover various religious and cultural practices and provide the tools for respectful communication. The program runs from Monday, August 8, through Friday, August 12. Registration fee: $169, which includes light suppers and visits to places of worship. "Interfaith Immersion: High School Youth – The Next Generation" is another weeklong workshop and is aimed at helping young people explore world religions and engage in interfaith dialogue. The program runs from Monday, August 8, through Friday, August 12. Registration fee: $79. The workshop is limited to 25 students and includes light dinners and trips to places of worship.
