[UPDATED] Republicans say no pay raise for O'Flynn in 2014

UPDATE: Legislators unanimously passed the amendment and continue to debate the 2014 budget proposal.

Original post: Republicans in the Monroe County Legislature say they will introduce an amendment to the 2014 proposed county budget to eliminate a substantial pay raise for Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn. O'Flynn had included a $37,000 pay increase for himself in his department's budget, which is part of the county's overall budget.

The County Legislature is expected to vote on the budget tonight.

The proposal raised eyebrows and provoked outrage, especially in light of the fact that the budget proposal also cuts day care subsidies for low-income families.

The amendment freezes O'Flynn's pay for 2014, according to a press release from the Republican caucus.
