College Town residents can move in today

Today (October 1) is the first day that residents can move into their apartments in the College Town project at Mt. Hope and Elmwood avenues.

College Town has a total of 154 housing units in two buildings, according to Jordan Debes, of the Cabot Group, which is leasing the units. The first building — which is the one that opened today — is half leased, he says. The second building opens to tenants on December 1, Debes says, and that one is currently 16 percent leased.

Debes says that he is pleased by the leasing rates, given that construction had been delayed. And he says that he expects interest to pick up now that people can go inside and see the units.

Debes says that the Mt. Hope Lofts at College Town seem to be drawing working professionals, especially those connected to the nearby University of Rochester Medical Center.

The rents are as follows:
• $775 to $1,050 for a studio;
• $980 to $1,425 for a one-bedroom unit;
• $1,280 to $1,465 for two bedrooms with one bath;
• $1,455 to $1,840 for two bedrooms with two baths.
