- Abundance Co-op will move from Marshall Street to a South Avenue space nearly twice as large early next year.
An official announcement is expected later today.
"Ultimately, the co-op anticipates that the more visible, larger space will allow more people in Rochester to take advantage of the cooperative business model it offers alongside the healthy, wholesome food it has specialized in since 2001," the e-mail says.
The South Avenue location is nearly twice the size of the market's current facility. The new store will have 7,500 square feet of retail space, with 5,000 square feet for warehouse, administrative, and community use. The e-mail says that the market will also increase the range of products its offers.
"A key feature of the new store will be a dedicated community space," the e-mail says. "It will be used to host cooking classes, community meetings, talks, and other educational outreach activities."
Abundance also plans to add 10 full-time jobs over the first year of the move, and more over the subsequent five years, according to the e-mail.
