Dragonfly Tavern & Pizza Factory does way more than just pizza; there are bar-food favorites like wings, nachos, and Boursin cheese fries, plus soups, salads, burgers, and other sandwiches. Pie-wise, Dragonfly offers the choice of building upon a white or whole wheat crust, then you’ve got to select your toppings. Go for a specialty pizza or customize your own, including a half-and-half option for the indecisive and slices for the noncommital.
Photos of man’s best friend line the walls of Dogtown, a cool little hots-n-burgers joint with a rabidly devoted following. Martusciello’s rolls and Zweigle’s German-style franks provide the hometown foundation, which Dogtown then riffs on with topping combinations evoking different locations around the world. (The German Shepherd, naturally, arrives stacked with sauerkraut, sautéed onions, and mustard.) Dogtown’s meatless options are extensive, from hots to burgers to sausage, and its acclaimed soups are usually vegetarian as well.
Stylishly mismatched furnishings make the cozy second floor of The Daily Refresher feel like you’ve stumbled into a secret Victorian parlor, albeit one with an old-timey newspaper theme that offers craft cocktails, nicely priced beer and wine, and toasted-cheese sandwiches. Other sandwich options as well as salads, soups, and snackier stuff are also available. But if the bustle of the East End is your thing, watch it from The Daily Refresher’s airy ground floor or one of its two decks.
From the creative minds behind Good Luck comes the casually stylish Cure, which embraces its sister restaurant’s notion of shared plates but in a more intimate atmosphere. The menu bears a distinct French influence, as does the wine list, and you can expect the offerings to rotate seasonally since the Public Market is right outside Cure’s front door. One constant is the charcuterie, much of it cured in-house along with fresh sausages, terrines, and pâtés, as well as Cure’s inspired cocktails.
The Swillburg neighborhood, near Highland Park, is home to Crossroads Coffeehouse, which strives to serve locally sourced products like organic coffees and teas, pastries from Georgie’s, milk from Pittsford Dairy, and syrups from Fee Bros. Crossroads also doubles as a meeting space, art gallery, and live music joint.
Located in a Neighborhood of the Arts home built circa 1907, Chocolate & Vines is a pairing establishment, serving thoughtfully chosen wines and microbrews to complement cheeses, pâtés, chocolates, and other sweet treats. Choose from an extensive list of local and international wines and beers, artisan chocolates, and organic and fair-trade coffees and teas. Also: pool table!
The Brooks Landing location of Boulder Coffee Co. is especially convenient to the PLEX neighborhood and the nearby University of Rochester. This location closes earlier than the other full-service Boulders but still offers snacks, music, cocktails, arts, and handcrafted coffee drinks.

The name may suggest otherwise, but the pie is not an afterthought at Acme Bar and Pizza, a fairly typical saloon that also boasts an excellent pizza. What else? Oh, yeah; beer, booze, and bar food like a massive chicken parm sandwich and legendary tater tots. Acme serves from lunch until 2 a.m., with an all-day happy hour until 7 p.m.
