Re: “Brooklyn Ramen brings the broth

Wish I could have loved this place when we tried it out, but it was pretty mediocre compared to some of the ramen I've had in NYC and Toronto. On top of that, the serving size seemed to small compared to the prices they charge(which would be fine if it was really good, but it wasn't), and the atmosphere itself was super awkward with the person working the register completely forgetting all the orders and the owner/cook having to re-ask people sitting at tables.

Re: “Elmwood Avenue plan up to City Council

"I would love to see this become some kind of green space or community garden or something the whole community can enjoy."

Really? This is right next to Highland Park, there is plenty of space for the whole community to enjoy the park that already exists. These constant calls for every piece of land to turn into "green space" get kind of tiresome. We live in a mid-sized city, if people don't want to be near development and change, then maybe this isn't the place for them.

Re: “In Grove Place and PLEX neighborhoods, hopes and fears of development

Sure they can throw in their opinion, but I don't know why Grove Place thinks their voice is supposed to hold some kind of serious weight on Parcel 5 which doesn't even seem like it's in their neighborhood. That's like someone who lives on Park Ave telling the South Wedge neighborhood association how to operate.

Re: “Whole Foods hearing set

I actually really like their proposal for consolidating the driveways across Monroe Ave from the proposed new plaza and hope people give this a chance. Seems like it would really clean up traffic through the area and eliminate the dangerous left hand turns through traffic people need to make from that center turning lane now.

Re: “For Parcel 5: a theater topped by apartments

It turns out that touring broadway shows are not the only events that happen at the Auditorium theater. Have you never seen a concert or comedian there?

I am glad the RBTL will be staying downtown and am happy to see a residential component added to the project as well. The massive density of people moving into the general Midtown area is going to pay off big time for Main Street and downtown in the near future, I can't wait.

Re: “Building up

If downtown is just begging for "space for people" then why isn't MLK Jr. park constantly crowded? We have parks that no one uses, we need people that actually live downtown which these "overpriced" residences provide. I put overpriced in quotes because when you do the math with what some of these places come with in terms of amenities, they aren't really overpriced at all, and the vacancy rates at all these new buildings bear that out.

Re: “Mark IV plans apartment complex for Karges Place in Swillburg

1/3 of their paycheck seems pretty reasonable for a brand new apartment in a pretty desirable part of the city. If that isn't affordable then I don't know what you expect, free public housing for everyone? Like someone already said, there is a subsidized building almost right across the street from this right now, the last thing that spot needs is more low-income housing.
