Jack Sullivan - Waiting for it to happen is not a successful strategy. There is nothing intrinsically distasteful to Donald Trump's dystopic alt-right fan base in a progressive world. It is how the message is presented. Voters want a message to grasp onto, yet there is no clear message from Democrats. To my point, what was Hillary Clinton's message, ('I am a women, vote for me')? You offer nothing if not more Morning Joe hand wringing blather about how bad things are, yet without remedy. What is needed, as necessary and sufficient, is a counter to the negative arguments of white resentment. What is need are candidates with courage to state clearly where society needs help and how to do it. Candidates must have a level of knowledge in their message, and be willing to burn leather, knock on doors and press flesh when articulating that message. Direct action wins votes in red neighborhoods and gathers them in blue. Mr. Sullivan, be actively progressive, put your anger to work, get out there and be part of the solution.
Re: “Feedback 7/25”
Timothy Berring - I'm not sure electorate is waiting for anything? At least I wouldn't want them to as it plays into the hands of Russian and presidential disinformation and Qanon. I'm convinced there is a vanguard searching the digital commons for individuals who have something to say that isn't the provocative claptrap of high schoolers, self-righteous bloat of conspiracists, or extremist crapulous nonsense. Limiting the debate to right and left wingers is archaic and divisive. What Sanders and others (Obama) demonstrate is that working through the digital commons with informed individuals has efficacy. Such efforts takes the electoral process out of the hands of pols and their bank rollers. We are in an age of transition (i.e., Internet working to shake off copyright monopolizers and fake news trolls). Legislative and electoral processes can be mended by fashioning coalitions of informed like minded willing to do the work of democracy through the digital commons. I suggest you get on board. Venting the spleen insults but changes nothing.
