Tom, fact of the matter is that 'we' have KNOWN -- for quite some time -- EXACTLY what 'we' are up against. Unfortunately, the "community's" position has been -- and to a GREAT DEGREE remains -- to keep on trying the old, long since proven useless course of 'moral suasion' to address the systemic issue of oppression and racism! Moreover, the overarching reality of Economic Slavery is also WIDELY KNOWN to undergird the system's ability to continue to literally PROFIT off of those held in virtual-chains. So, it stands to reason that if you follow the money...you'll find perhaps the primary reason there is merely symbolic gestures with regard to addressing the pervasive issue of poverty! Until and unless those affected by it stand up and meet this beast head-on...it will persist.
