Abilene Bar and Lounge will hold a celebration Sunday, April 21, to heap a lot of love on a popular couple, Al and Pauline Kerstein, during a difficult time due to health issues. With music by Ruckus Juice Jug Stompers, and the LP's. There also will be food and drink, giveaways, raffles, and good times galore. Proceeds will benefit the Kersteins during Pauline's health challenge. A U.S. Postal employee, Pauline has been unable to work while receiving treatment. The Kersteins are lifelong Irondequoit residents and passionate about their community. Al, a Realtor, is known to many as "Mr. Irondequoit" and "Mr. Lacrosse." A lacrosse player in the '70s at Irondequoit High School and MCC, Al is a member of the Section V Lacrosse Hall of Fame and Rochester Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. He is the founder of the Irondequoit Lacrosse Club/Irondequoit Youth Lacrosse and the Greater Rochester Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse. Al also sits on the board of directors of Stepping Stones Learning Center. Al and Pauline's oldest child, Nate, played Division I lacrosse at Binghamton University and is now counsel to state Assemblyman Joe Morelle in Albany. Their daughter, Claire, also a former youth lacrosse player, is a senior at University of Buffalo. To donate items for the event or for further information, contact Danny Deutsch at (585) 506-5530.
