Re: “Sodam

Never had a bad meal here. And I've eaten here like 50 times.

Re: “Are you there, College Town?

The potential Mt. Hope/Gold St apartments would definitely help College Town: https://www.democratandchronicle.com/story…

Re: “Are you there, College Town?

"College" Town is a 20 minute walk from U of R's undergrad. College town is surrounded on one side by a cemetery (dead people don't spend money), on one side by a hospital with its own cafeteria (more convenient for hospital workers), and on the other two sides by R-1 low-density residential. This is not enough residents for a critical mass of foot traffic. Goler House residents aren't enough. If you look at the most successful walkable commercial strip in Rochester, Park Ave, it's surrounded by R2 and R3 (medium and high density) residential zoning. It's not rocket science.
This means that College Town could thrive if more residential units are added. It's not doomed to failure.

Re: “Neighbors push back on new Divinity School building

"The building will mar the view of a Rochester landmark, they said." The view is already blocked by large trees that line Highland & Goodman.

"And a new institutional building set right against Highland would be inconsistent with the residential character of the area."

So, locating a school directly next to where there is currently a school will change the character of the area. OK.

I lived a few blocks from this location until last year. It's going to be difficult to judge one way or the other before seeing renderings.

Re: “Mark IV plans apartment complex for Karges Place in Swillburg

It'd be nice to see a couple 3 bedroom apartments as well, for larger families.

Re: “GOP punishes city residents, workers for political gain

I'm sure the County Leg killed the city DMV over concerns of climate change. That's why they are also killing the DMVs in Henrietta, Irondequoit and Greece...

Re: “A modest little proposal for revitalizing downtown

With Wegmans, a highly visible building in downtown Rochester, with that big “W” on the side, would say a lot about Wegmans’ commitment to the city.

We already know what Wegmans commitment to the city is. It is zero.
