You would be a fool to invest in tens of thousands of dollars to become a public school teacher these days. Why? You have a rigorous certificate process that is costly and unnecessary- but that is just an aside. A new teacher has 4 years to become tenured. Out of the four years, 3 of them that teacher must score highly perficient - that means your students test scores must be more than on point. You better not piss of your principal, for any reason. You have to get a 7th grade student who reads at a second grade level to pass the common core standards assessment that is designed for 9th graders. Good luck with that.
