Chimney Bluffs: From Prehistory to Prohibition

When: Wed., May 18, 6 p.m. 2016
Joe O’Toole, director of the Sodus Bay Heights Lighthouse Museum informs us about the geological formation of Chimney Bluffs. Dish to pass dinner begins at 6pm and is open to the public. Please bring your favorite dish to share and your own table service. The program will begin at 7pm followed by a short business meeting and election of officers. You may think of Chimney Bluffs as a nice place to hike on a warm day, but what are these unique cliffs on the shore of Lake Ontario? Joe will explain how the bluffs of this great tourist attraction were formed by glaciers thousands of years ago and how they continue to change every day. He will also share with us the secret role the Bluffs played in the Prohibition years.
