City's Fall Choices

City's choice: dance

Pilobolus Dance Theatre kicks off an exciting fall dance season in the greater Rochester area. The company formed at DartmouthCollege in 1971 and since then has become one of the top contemporary dance troupes in the nation. As part of the 35th anniversary season, the dancers will perform three pieces: Walklyndon, a slapstick silent piece from Pilobolus' early years; Prism, a film noir-inspired piece set to the music of Coldplay, Yo La Tengo, and more; and Symbiosis, paired with music by the Kronos Quartet.

Pilobolus Dance Theatre performs Saturday, September 30, 8 p.m. at the Nazareth College Arts center, 4245 East Avenue, 389-2170. $35-$40.

City's choice: lectures

The Caroline Werner Gannett Project seeks to yank science out of the classroom and explain its effect on everyday life. The new lecture series, which starts Wednesday, September 20, with Dr. Eugenie Scott on the topic "Making Sense of Biology," also covers topics ranging from why humans are susceptible to disease after generations of evolution, to why stepparents treat their surrogate kids like crap.

Lectures take place at 8 p.m. at R.I.T.'s Ingle Auditorium., and are free to the public. For a full schedule or more information click
