CLASSICAL | Bill Murray, Jan Vogler, and Friends

Bill Murray is associated with many things — Saturday Night Live, countless iconic film roles, a penchant for golf and South Carolina — but he's never been linked with classical music. That is, until now. In September 2017, the often eccentric performer released a classical album called "New Worlds." On the recording, he sings and reads in collaboration with German cellist Jan Vogler (the duo met at airport security during an international flight several years ago), Chinese violinist Mira Wang, and Venezuelan pianist Vanessa Perez. For all the global diversity within the quartet, the material of "New Worlds" has a distinctly Americana feel, including pieces from Ernest Hemingway, Mark Twain, "West Side Story," and Stephen Foster.

Bill Murray, Jan Vogler, and Friends will perform "New Worlds" on Wednesday, April 11, at Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre, 60 Gibbs Street. 8 p.m. $51.50-$135.50. 274-3000; eastmantheatre.org; newworldsmusic.com.
