CLASSICAL | Brass and Organ Spring Spectacular

The Society for Chamber Music in Rochester will present a packed program on Friday, March 13, with its Brass and Organ Spring Spectacular. The concert features members of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra's brass section: trumpeters Douglas Prosser, Wesley Nance, and Herbert Smith; W. Peter Kurau, horn; trombonists Mark Kellogg, Timothy Smith (of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra), and Jeffrey Gray; and W. Craig Sutherland, tuba. As well as percussionist Jim Tiller (also with the RPO); and organist Peter DuBois. Two of the evening's works are arrangements written specifically for this concert: Donald Hunsberger arranged Walton's "Crown Imperial, A Coronation March," and Wesley Nance arranged Strauss's "Festmusik der Stadt Wien." Also on the program is a composition from G. Nathan Stang, the SCMR Composition Competition student prize winner.

The Society for Chamber Music in Rochester will perform its Brass and Organ Spring Spectacular on Friday, March 13, at Third Presbyterian Church, 4 Meigs Street. Pre-concert talk at 7 p.m.; concert at 7:30 p.m. $30 (free with student ID).
