CLASSICAL | Canandaigua LakeMusic Festival

This weekend, Canandaigua's LakeMusic Festival ends its 10th anniversary season with two imaginatively programmed concerts. For Friday's "Chopin Meets Hedgehog," pianist Audrey Andrist plays several Chopin works and Beethoven's Sonata in C Major, Op. 2, No. 3. Following, the spiny hedgehog's intimacy issues are the inspiration for Adam Silverman's new trio piece (piano, violin, and cello), "The Hedgehog's Dilemma." On Sunday, you can witness the "Expanding Universe" — the chamber music universe, that is. The program begins with a Bach piece for solo cello and expands, one string player at a time, to include a Rebecca Clarke duet, a Beethoven trio, Ravel's quartet, and a quintet by Bruckner, culminating in Brahms's luscious Sextet No. 2 in G Major, Op. 36.

Canandaigua LakeMusic Festival presents "Chopin Meets Hedgehog" on Friday, July 18, and "Expanding Universe" on Sunday, July 20. Both performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at FLCC Concert Hall, 3325 Marvin Sands Drive, Canandaigua. $35; and $10 students with ID. Lakemusicfestival.org.
