Daily Choices: What to do on Friday, January 17 

Film: The Baobab Cultural Center (728 University Ave.) will host a screening of "Color Adjustment" tonight at 7 p.m. The film traces 40 years of race relations through the lens of prime time entertainment, scrutinizing television's racial myths and stereotypes. Music: Rover’s Holiday Hangover is back at the Main Street Armory (900 East Main St., rochestermainstreetarmory.com) tonight, and there’s a slew of bands waiting there for you as well: Hoobastank, The Dirty Heads, Churchill, New Politics, Twenty One Pilots, and 1916 will all be there, ready to chase away those holiday blues. Music starts at 5:30 p.m., tickets run $10-$20.

Theater: Off-Monroe Players will present two one-act plays, "Ages Ago" and "Happy Arcadia," both by Gilbert and Sullivan, tonight at 8 p.m. and again tomorrow at 2 p.m. The event, which takes place at Christ the Good Shepherd Church (1000 N Winton Rd.) is free to attend, but the group asks that the audience brings a canned or dry good donation. Music: Sometimes we’re all criminals, and you’ll be among them when you head to check out Among Criminals tonight at Water Street (204 N. Water St., waterstreetmusic.com). Nevergreen opens up the show, music starts at 9 p.m., tickets run $5-$7.

Comedy: Geva Comedy Improv will present "Swords & Sandals: An Improvised Fantasy Epic," tonight at 8:30 p.m. at Geva Theatre Center (75 Woodbury Blvd.). The show costs $10 to attend. Call 232-4382 or visit gevacomedyimprov.org for more information.

Music: I’m not sure which side of the ethereal plane that black angels come from, but you’ll be able to check out a large number of them, 33 in fact, tonight with 33 Black Angels and Pillow Fight Accident at Boulder Coffee (100 Alexander St., bouldercoffeeco.com). Music starts at 8 p.m and is free.
