Daily Choices: What to do on Monday, January 14 

Film: The Little Theatre (240 East Ave.) will host two screenings of “Shooting Beauty,” part of WXXI and Al Sigl’s "Dialogue on Disability” series, tonight at 6 and 8 p.m. The film puts the viewer in Courtney Bent's shoes as she overcomes her own unspoken prejudices and begins inventing cameras accessible to her new friends with significant disabilities. Admission is free, and the 6 p.m. screening will be followed by a discussion with the film’s producer Courtney Bent who will join the audience via Skype to talk about her film. Workshop: Attend a Cooking Class with Hyatt Regency’s The Scene on Main executive chef, Dustin Muroski, at The Culinary Center at Vella (237 Pittsford-Palmyra Rd,). Learn as he creates a dazzling five course meal tonight, 6-8:30 p.m. The class costs $85; register by calling 421-9362 or visiting vellaculinarycenter.com.

Music: A brand new open mic is starting up tonight (and repeating the second Monday of every month) at Lift Bridge Bookshop (45 Main St., Brockport, liftbridgebooks.com). Head on down at 6:30 p.m. and give the your ol’ pal the microphone some love.

Kids: Children can learn how to make a book using simple bindings with no stitching or glue tonight, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Wood Library (134 N. Main St., Canandaigua). Carol Henshaw will instruct the class which is recommended for ages 10 and up or as young as age 8 with a parent. A supply fee of $3 or $5 for a parent and child is suggested.
