Daily Choices: What to do on Tuesday, April 16

Music: Pianist Kathryn Blaine, saxophonist Stephanie Venturino, and violinist Helen Wong will all have their talents spotlighted in the David Hochstein Competition Winners Recital, featuring classical performances from each of these three talents. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. in Hochstein Performance Hall (50 N. Plymouth Ave.), and is free and open to the public. For more events from the Hochstein School of Music & Dance, visit hochstein.org.

Lecture: Whether you want to keep protesting hydrofracking, make a good argument in its defense, or just try once again to understand what the hell all the hype is about, everyone can learn something from the Rochester Committee for Scientific Information's annual meeting on hydraulic fracturing issues. This year's forum, which begins at 7 p.m., will feature presentations from Richard Young, a geological sciences professor at SUNY Geneseo, and Thomas Shelley, a chemical safety and hazardous materials specialist. The meeting will be held at the Xerox Auditorium on the Rochester Institute of Technology campus (1 Lomb Memorial Dr.), and is free and open to the public. Learn more about RIT events at rit.edu.

Dance: Don't just dream in vain – create your own stardust memories (which always will remain) at the Stardust Ballroom Dance Series, held every Tuesday through April 30 at the Edgerton Community Center (41 Backus St., cityofrochester.gov/edgerton). Each week's dance starts at 7:30 p.m., and costs $3 per person.

Music: Steve Donohue, organist at St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church in Livonia and St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Honeoye, kicks off this year's Organ Recital Series at the Central Presbyterian Church of Geneseo (31 Center St., Geneseo). Donohue's free performance begins at noon. See the rest of this year's Organ Recital Series lineup at cpcgeneseo.org.

Comedy: Don't laugh too hard at this secret-sounding show, or you might just blow its cover. Dub Land Underground (315 Alexander St.) will present its comedy showcase, Laugh Riot Underground, at 9 p.m. The show is free. Keep up with other Dub Land going-ons at facebook.com/dublandunderground.
