RECREATION: Rise early to take part in the Bear Hollow Trail Trek at Letchworth State Park in Castile. The hike takes place at 10 a.m., and is free to participate, but the park charges an $8 parking fee. Bring a lunch and spend the day in the gorge-ous outdoors. For more information, call 493-3625.

MUSIC: Self proclaimed “ mountain-top chamber” seven piece folk troupe The Last Bison are roaming on down to Lovin’ Cup (300 Park Point Dr., lovincup.com) tonight, bringing along Hollands and the Moho Collective to kick things off. Music starts at 8 p.m., tickets run $10-$12.

ART: Whimsical work by Carmine Monzo is featured in the show, "If the Shoe Fits," currently on display at Hirsute Salon and Gallery (51 Atlantic Ave.) through January 18. Check it out today 10 a.m.-5 p.m. There is no admission fee. For more info, call 244-1111.

MUSIC: Rochester based band Cairo are kicking off its tour tonight with a show at Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave., bugjar.com), with fellow locals Rash and The Blood & Bone Orchestra opening up. Music starts at 9 p.m., cover runs $5-$7. And you know the drill, TeenSet 45 Dance Party will follow the bands at midnight.

SPECIAL EVENT: In honor of Dr. King’s upcoming birthday, Penfield Public Library (1985 Baird Rd.) will host an event called “Reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” tonight at 6:30 p.m. MCC History Professor Njeru Murage will facilitate a community-wide discussion around the theme of “Penfield’s Recollections of the Civil Rights Era.” The group will watch a short film on Martin Luther King, Jr. and share memories of Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement.
