MUSIC: I'm a big fan of the squeeze box, and there's just something about a good ol' southern Creole stomp that gets the blood boiling. If that sounds up your alley, you don't want to miss Sammy Naquin and Big Easy Zydeco tonight at Abilene (153 Liberty Pole Way, abilenebarandlounge.com, $8-$12), fresh from the capital of zydeco/Cajun music, New Orleans herself. The musical feast kicks off at 8 p.m.

ART: "1975 Gallery is Haunted!" Well, the four-year anniversary show for the gallery, now located at 89 Charlotte St., is filled with spooky and creeptastic artworks by a variety of artists. Check the show out through November 17; today's hours are noon-8 p.m. Admission is free. More info: 1975ish.com.

MUSIC: No one can destroy the metal, and it comes in full force tonight at the Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave., bugjar.com, $8-$10). Leading the way to the top of the mighty metal mountain is Witch Mountain, from Portland, with Rochester's own Orodruin and San Francisco-based Castle opening up the night. Music starts at 9 p.m., so get those fists ready to be pumped and heads ready to be bobbed.

SPECIAL EVENT: Rochester Winos will hold a wine and food pairing tonight, 6:30 p.m., at TBones Steakhouse (778 Penfield Road, Penfield). The cost to attend is $30-$35, and registration is required. For more info, visit rochesterwinos.com.

MUSIC: Rochester's own Blackened Blues is starting a weekly residency at Temple Bar and Grill (109 East Ave., templebarandgrille.com) tonight, and will be jamming it up there every week through November. Never heard of them? The dub-meets-hip-hop-meets-DJ six-person crew is bound to get you up and moving around. Music starts at 10 p.m., and is the best price of all: free.

LECTURE: David Ruch will give a presentation on "The War of 1812: Songs and Stories from New York and Beyond" tonight, 7:30 p.m., at Geneva Historical Society (543 S. Main St., Geneva). The event is free to attend. For more information, call 315-789-5151 or visit genevahistoricalsociety.com.

MUSIC: A-Pub Live (6 Lawrence St.) is putting on a special show tonight, featuring the live musical act that is DJ VS. VJ. Coming in from Albany, the dynamic duo mixes up live sets right on the fly, mashing together the musical world of DJ Nick Papa Giorgio and the visual world of Roy Buckley VJ. The party gets started at 10 p.m., admission $3-$10.

MUSIC: Looking for something a little more like the traditional fare? Jeremy Button will be hosting a Scottish music session tonight at McGraw's Irish Pub (146 W. Commercial St., East Rochester, mcgrawsirishpub.com) 7-9 p.m. It's free, and sure, it's Scottish music at an Irish pub, but we can all get together for music for at least one night, can't we?
