DANCE | NYS Ballet's "The Raven"

Usher in autumn this weekend with New York State Ballet's performance of "The Raven: 3 Tales by Edgar Allan Poe." The performance, held at Hochstein Music Hall (50 North Plymouth Avenue), promises a lavishly haunting dance interpretation of three of Poe's most famous works. These include a dramatic theatrical representation of Poe's short story, "The Masque of the Red Death," with dancer Kate Kostelnik playing the ominous, merciless title character the Prince encounters at a masquerade ball. In "The Cask of Amontillado," the dancers will reflect on Poe's tense tale of revenge between friends, and in "The Raven," the dancers will give an interpretive glimpse into Poe's life of tragedy and suffering, instead of a literal depiction of the poem.

The performance will take place Saturday, September 26, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children, students, and groups of 10 or more. For additional information or to buy tickets, call 1-800-838-3006 or visit newyorkstateballet.org.
