Re: “Global climate emissions flat last year despite economic growth

The flat growth rate in CO2 emissions is ONLY FROM THE ENERGY SECTOR. Overall emissions growth is from many sectors including transportation, land use, agriculture, cement production, industrial activity, etc. As such CO2 is still growing by 2 to 3 parts per million each year. This does not include other greenhouse gases such as methane and nitrous oxide. At this rate we will reach 430 ppm in about 10 years. This is the level at which the IPCC estimates global average temperature will reach 2 C over pre-industrial levels. While this is positive news, there is much more work to be done to remain below 2 C.
