Bands on the Bricks, a mainstay of Rochester’s summer concert scene, is back with a five-concert season that is heavy on cover bands and tribute acts.

The free series at the Rochester Public Market, 280 North Union Street, opens at 6 p.m. on July 12 with Something Else, a trio that prides itself on its versatility, covering popular cuts by artists ranging from Billy Joel to Weezer. Fellow local group Junkyardfieldtrip plays in support.

The annual Latino Night, a collaboration between the City of Rochester and the Puerto Rican Festival of Rochester, returns on July 19.

The next two concerts abandon original material entirely, in favor of classics from legendary bands. Into the Now —- a classic rock cover band specializing in songs by such groups as The Rolling Stones, The Doors, and The Grateful Dead —- shares the July 26 bill with Phish tribute band Dinner and a Movie. The musical homages continue on August 2 with Lotus Land, a band dedicated to the music of prog-rock heavyweights Rush, as well as the AC/DC interpreters known as Bonfire.

The Bands on the Bricks series finale on August 9 features veteran roots rockers Donna the Buffalo.

For each concert in the series, doors open at 5:30 p.m. and music begins at 6 p.m. More information can be found at https://www.cityofrochester.gov/bandsonbricks/, or by calling the Public Market office at 428-6907.
