Re: “Should we rewrite New York's constitution?

Should we rewrite New York's constitution? Given the high level of selfishness, political and historical ignorance, demagoguery and assorted bigotries loose in America, the answer is "no". Not just no, but "HELL NO !"

Re: “Religious liberty talk set

"Lynn's biggest concern is the real possibility that Trump will stack the Supreme Court with ultra conservatives."

Actually it's the gutless Republican senators who should be held even more responsible than Demagogue Donny for stacking the Supreme Court with Far Right crazies. He can only nominate justices. It's 2/3 of the Senate (now just 51 votes since the GOP invoked the "nuclear option") that has the power, and the responsibility, for confirmation.

Re: “It's Warren's party now

Tom Janowski : No joke. Both Warren and Maggie Brooks are waiting for Louise to retire so they can run for her seat.

Re: “Our quest to become a ‘City of the Arts’

Let's be honest. The title "City of the Arts" is nothing more than a hyperbolic PR catch phrase. The equivalent of the claim of offering "world class service" which so many companies have adopted. So if Rochester wants to self-anoint itself as such a city, then by all means do so. (It's certainly better than the slogan, "We #ROC" dreamed up by the Chamber of Commerce.)

But personally, rather then trying to appear higher on the cultural list, I'd rather see Rochester work to be lower on the lists for number of citizens being shot, number of children living in poverty, and number of students failing to graduate.

Re: “Feedback 8/30

The far right has hate groups. The far left is guilty of vandalism, anti-Semitism, and violence.

SHEILA GISSIN WEINBACH Not sure where you think you see anti-Semitism from the far left (if so, theyre seriously impinging on the prerogatives of the far right), but as to their alleged violence, do you equate them with the violence of such political killings as the shootings by Robert Lewis Dear (far right protector of the unborn who killed three in an attack on a Planned Parenthood office), and Dylann Roof (white supremacist who killed 9 African Americans)?

Re: “Developers will release Medley Centre plans this week

The biggest question is how many millions of our tax dollars, local and state, is this project going to cost?

Re: “Feedback 8/23

Shirley Dawson - - While its indisputable that William Tecumseh Sherman was a racist by modern-day standards, calling him "an unnecessarily vicious tyrant" is the sort of historically inaccurate hyperbole best left to 19th. Century Confederate apologists.

As to Grant, I recommend reading, "The Man Who Saved the Union: Ulysses Grant in War and Peace" by H. W. Brands. Few Americans deserve a statue more than he.

Oh yes, there's been a statute of Jeannette Rankin in the National Statuary Hall at the US Capital since 1985. Just down the hall from her is a statue of Rosa Parks that's been in the Capitol since 2013.

There are also several statues of Marie Curie scattered around the world. The American one is in Cleveland.

The statue of Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova is quite naturally found in
Cosmonauts Alley in Moscow.

And Alan Sheppard's statue is located in the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame at the Kennedy Space Center.
