FILM | 'Lake of Betrayal'

Through August, Friends of Ganondagan's spring and summer programming lineup includes activities, screenings, exhibits, storytelling, and the annual Native American Music & Dance Festival. This weekend a screening of 'Lake of Betrayal' will be held at the Seneca Art & Culture Center, followed by a discussion with filmmaker Paul Lamont, writer and producer Scott Sackett, and Seneca Nation member Caleb Abrams. The film dives into the history of the Kinzua Dam and its impact on the Seneca Nation. Located on Pennsylvania's Allegheny River, the dam created a 27-mile reservoir which flooded great portions of ancestral Seneca lands, in direct violation of the 1794 Canandaigua Treaty.

'Lake of Betrayal' film screening and discussion on Saturday, May 19, at Seneca Art & Culture Center at Ganondagan, 7000 County Road 41 (Boughton Hill Road) in Victor. 1:30 p.m. $6 general public, $5 Friends of Ganondagan members. 924-5848; ganondagan.org.
