FOLK | Olivia Quillio

The way Olivia Quillio's voice weaves between a smooth, jazz purr and a sweet, folk whisper is enchanting and wonderful. Her words feel weightless as she croons, yet hold a heart that's heavy and wise of someone decades older. There's more soul here on a thin breath than I've heard in a while. This Troy, New York, native recently released her second album, "Get Down and Pray," which holds more of those lilting vocals with simple and tasteful bass, drum and slide to accompany. So deep in her musical journey at such a young age, it will be sweet to hear her unfold. Heather Taylor also plays.

Olivia Quillio plays Sunday, January 24, at Lovin' Cup, 300 Park Point Drive. 7 p.m. $5.;
