Folk-Pop | WYATT

Brooklyn-based band WYATT is somewhat of a family affair. Singer-songwriter Maddy Wyatt has collaborated with her two brothers, and two non-Wyatts, on a project that the band members have labeled "electrofolkpop." The music WYATT makes is especially reminiscent of the lo-fi folk-pop of the early 2000's, calling to mind bands like Rilo Kiley and Tilly And The Wall. Wyatt has a pleasant, easy voice that will remind any lo-fi fan of Jenny Lewis' chops, and she is backed by a relaxed, but highly skilled band. WYATT recently released its debut EP, and has held slots at prestigious music festivals such as CMJ and SXSW. The band's music carries with it a distinct lack of pretension and a clear love for doing what they do, and doing it well.

WYATT performs with The Sharrows, Fire Wheel, and Cammy Enaharo on Wednesday, June 26, 8 p.m. at Tala Vera, 155 State St. $5-$7. tala-vera.com.
