Mayor Lovely A. Warren will join with N.Y. State Assemblyman Harry Bronson, Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo, project directors Carvin Eison and Bleu Cease, artist Olivia Kim, and members of the Frederick Douglass Bicentennial Commemorative Committee to unveil the first in a series of monuments that will pay tribute to the abolitionist and orator, Frederick Douglass. The life-sized statues, created by local artist and sculptor Olivia Kim, are inspired by the Douglass monument currently in Highland Park. In addition to the unveiling, highlights of the event will include a performance by the Hochstein Children’s Choir, a scene from the play, “The Agitators,” and the actual installation of the first monument in front of the Hochstein School at the conclusion of the program.
