Rochester is arguably one of the nerdiest cities in New York State. University of Rochester's annual gaming convention, SIMCON — the longest-running tabletop gaming convention in New York — is a standing achievement of Rochester's nerdom. SIMCON is specifically geared toward tabletop gaming: board gaming, war gaming, role-playing, collectible card gaming, and a whole lot more. This year marks its 39th convention, appropriately titled "Rogue Thirty-Nine: A SIMCON Story." It's completely student-run by University of Rochester Simulation Gaming Association (URSGA), which is astonishing when considering how long it has been going.

The convention will feature local vendors, special guests, and events that showcase specific games, inviting attendees to join in or just spectate. Events will occur for the entirety of the weekend at different times through the day. SIMCON will take place Friday, March 31, through Sunday, April 2, in the Wilson Commons on the UR River Campus. Friday, 3 p.m. to 12 a.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 a.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. A single day is $10, and a weekend pass is $15. For a full list of events, guests, and vendors, visit
