This predominantly French Romantic program includes the Overture to “Orpheus in the Underworld” by Jacques Offenbach, the L’Arléssiene Suite No. 1 by Georges Bizet, the Carmen Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra by Pablo de Sarasate, based on themes from Bizet’s “Carmen”. The orchestra concludes the program with Franz Liszt’s stirring “Les Preludes”, Symphonic Poem No. 3, based on the poem by Lamartine.
