Maco Mattox, known by his braggadocio rap persona OG Maco, might just be 2017's diamond in the rough. Before making it in hip-hop, he was a singer in a screamo metal band. Growing up listening to all kinds of music, Maco found his biggest influences to be Kid Cudi and Black Sabbath, and you can hear it merging in his newest mixtape, "Children of Rage" — it's one part hip-hop, one part rock 'n' roll with that burgeoning "New Atlanta" flare.
OG Maco performs with Young Greatness on Wednesday, March 15, at Harmony House 58 East Main Street, Webster. 6 p.m. $20-$75. ticketfly.com; facebook.com/OGxMaco.
