‘Vindaloo’ is a word that connects directly to pork curry – cooked and eaten only by the Goan community of Southwestern India. Many Goans claim Portuguese descent and many converted to Catholicism during the Portuguese missionaries’ travels to India, namely St Francis Xavier. Traditional Vindaloo is pork, but certainly can be used for any meat or seafood.
