INDIE | Jeffrey Lewis & Los Bolts

A comic book writer at heart, Jeffrey Lewis makes indie folk music that is just as animated as his visual creations. Having gained inspiration from the streets of New York City, Lewis demonstrates what it means to think outside the box with his music by blending high-energy folk with garage rock, punk, and pop. Lewis's music presents colorfully upbeat musical narratives of everyday situations that metaphorically reflect larger societal problems. He speak-sings in an easy-going, candid stream of consciousness, with a surprisingly poetic tone. Meanwhile, guitar, bass, and percussive timbres perform a silly and light-hearted dance underneath the lyrics.

Jeffrey Lewis and his band Los Bolts will perform along with Seth Faergolzia and The Sugargliders on Wednesday, November 28, 9 p.m. at Bug Jar, 219 Monroe Avenue. $8-$12. Ages 18 and over. 454-2966. bugjar.com; thejeffreylewissite.com.
