Tree Lighting CeremonySunday, December 2, 2018, 3:30-5pm
The library is teaming up with the Town of Irondequoit and Parks and Recreation to bring Irondequoit's annual tree lighting ceremony. Activities will start in the library at 3:30 pm, and will include a holiday storytime, a self-guided craft for kiddos, a raffle, and holiday music. Then the fun will move over to the gazebo next to Town Hall, where we'll greet Santa and watch as he uses his Christmas magic to light up the tree and menorah.

"Colorado: Where the West Begins," with Dan Reardon Monday, December 3, 2018, 7-8pm
Come explore the inspiring Colorado Rocky Mountains with Dan Reardon. See abandoned gold mines, soar high above the Garden of the Gods, hike along clear mountain lakes, and admire hardy stunted alpine vegetation.

No Sew Quilted Holiday Ornament with Linda Bowers Wednesday, December 5, 2018, 3-5pm
By folding squares of material and pinning them to a Styrofoam ball, students will construct a lovely holiday ornament that looks like a sewn quilt. All supplies provided. Registration required. Sponsored by the Friends of the Irondequoit Public Library.

Writing the Constitution Thursday, December 6, 2018, 6-8pm
The United States Constitution, the basis of our democracy, was ratified over 200 years ago. Do we take it for granted in 2018? One method for examining this important document is to sit down and copy the exact wording by hand. In line with sessions begun by New York artist Morgan O'Hara titled "Handwriting the Constitution," you are invited to hand write in a quiet space with others. Copies of the Constitution, paper, and writing implements will be provided. Participants can copy whatever portion they want and stay as long as they are able. No registration necessary. Open Enrollment with a LawNY Health Care Navigator Friday, December 7, 2018, 10am-2pm
A certified health care navigator from LawNY will be available for a one-hour appointment to assist in enrolling for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. Open enrollment takes place November 1, 2018 through January 31, 2019. Additional appointments available at other libraries in Monroe County. Please be sure to bring a photo ID, the previous year's tax return, and dates of birth and social security numbers for all family members that you are enrolling. Registration required.

Craft and Laugh! Wednesday, December 12, 2018, 6-7pm
All ages welcome, though crafts are targeted for ages 4-6. We meet monthly at the Irondequoit Library and take turns providing a craft idea and materials. Parents or caregiver must remain with child(ren) during craft. Please RSVP to the Facebook event with headcount for your family 24 hours prior to the event. Join us for a monthly exploration of a different topic. There will be a variety of leveled activities, from coloring pages for the littlest homeschoolers to facilitated research questions for tweens and teens. The adjacent activity room will also be available for crafting and coloring, open to homeschoolers to come and play. It's a wonderful opportunity to meet other homeschooling families and build your community. No registration necessary.

Recommended for Ages 1-5. Come and join in a half hour of fun in American Sign Language (ASL). Children will have opportunities to learn ASL rhymes and rhythms as well as engage in a story presented in sign language. A voice interpreter will be provided for family members who may be learning ASL. No registration required.

Progressive Early Learning Wednesday, December 26, 2018, 10:30-11:30am, 11:45am-12:45pm
This class provides a fun, meaningful and relevant playful learning experience for young children. We provide materials and activities that lay the foundation for S.T.E.A.M. learning.
