Through the month of January Contest Guidelines: +Stories should be no more than 1,500 words. +Stories should be based in the time period of one of the Jane Austen novels. +Stories should include original plot and characters. +Characters may be borrowed from Jane Austen novels to enhance the context of the story. +Participants must be in grades 6-12 and reside in Western New York. Details: Interested in the life and works of Jane Austen? Think you can write a winning story in less than 1,500 words? Are you in grades 6-12 and live in Ontario, Wyoming, Wayne, Livingston or Monroe County? If so, you are welcome to participate in the first ever Granger Homestead and Wood Library Jane Austen Short Story Contest. Stories should be original and based in the era of Jane Austen’s most popular novels. The winning story will be judged based on compelling content, depth and understanding of the time period, originality, and proper punctuation and grammar. The winner will be awarded a Regency period makeover for the Jane Austen dance on March 9, 2013 and a one year membership in the Jane Austen Society of North America. Short stories will be judged by local members of the Jane Austen Society of North America.
