Re: “RBTL theater site moves to the riverfront

Greenraven, only a win if the City isn't left with the debt when it fails. As they have been with so many projects that rely on pie-in-the-sky attendance figures.

Re: “RBTL theater site moves to the riverfront

Once again, where will the money come from to support a new theater and the Auditorium? Will a new theater cannibalize audiences from existing arts groups? Answers, please, before decisions are made. And REAL answers, not happy answers from a poll designed to favor a theater.

Re: “Feedback 10/10

Tom Janowski, do you travel anywhere by plane? You can be healthy as the proverbial horse, but when you're trapped in a tin can full of recycled air full of flu germs, you're going to get it.

Re: “Tests reveal a lot or nothing at all

Very curious. Luxembourg discusses the charter school competency without mentioning that charters are able to pick and choose their students. You can believe, Luxembourg, that charter school students have a) active parents who seek out the charter school, and b) are accepted after being vetted by said schools. Much easier to be successful that way.

Re: “Smaller venues have jitters about proposed RBTL theater

"Cullom said its not unusual for cities like Rochester to see a bump in development and improvements in arts and cultural centers after a large venue is built."

Planners said almost exactly this before the million dollar upgrade to Silver Stadium, and before the creation of Frontier Field and Sahlen Stadium.

There is no 'bump.' These stand alone, money-sucking entertainment venues only benefit themselves. And, frankly, they don't even do that, requiring constant subsidies. Until RBTL can actually prove that it can financially sustain a new theater, then let's just take it off the table. We don't need it.

Re: “Rochester plans suit against landlord Peter Hungerford

Gosh, there is nothing I like better than filling my toilet with kitty litter so that it stops up and I need to leave my place to find another bathroom! (Not) That landlord is one nasty piece of work.
