KIDS | 'The Emperor's New Clothes'

OFC Creations this weekend kicks off its family-friendly production of "The Emperor's New Clothes," Hans Christian Anderson's timeless tale about a vain leader and his fearful constituents, who are all duped by a pair of con-artists until confronted with the naïve honesty of a child. In OFC's version, a mother and son plead with the Emperor for funds to bring the arts back to town. They're sent away but return as the story's crafty weavers peddling clothes that are "invisible" to those unworthy of their positions. The set was designed by Rochester-based visual artist Cordell Cordaro. All performances are about one hour in length plus a short intermission. And children can meet the cast after each performance, with photo opportunities, autographs, and a new Activity Center.

Performances of "The Emperor's New Clothes" take place for the next two weekends at Kodak Center, 200 West Ridge Road. Saturdays, October 13 and 20, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.; and Sundays, October 14 and 21, at 2 p.m. A sensory-friendly performance will take place Sunday, October 14, at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $12 for students and seniors, and $10 for kids ages 12 and younger. 667-0954; ofccreations.com.
