The exhibit explores the experiences of disabled Civil War veterans who served as a symbol of the fractured nation and stark reminder of the costs of the conflict. it also explores how these veterans dealt with the loss of limbs and how they were treated in the post War years. This exhibit was developed and produced by the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health.
