METAL | The Black Dahlia Murder

It's hard to believe The Black Dahlia Murder has been at it for 16 years and seven albums. Doesn't playing this loud and fast for so long take a toll on the body? This death metal band from Michigan covers all the metal subgenres as well and dishes them out like a 90-minute hardcore punch to the face. It's guitar driven — no duh — but it's the pummeling your guts get from the drums that gets me. Elizabeth Short approved. White Chapel, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Aversions Clown, and Shadow of Intent are also on this show.

The Black Dahlia Murder plays Wednesday, June 13, at Montage Music Hall,  50 Chestnut Street. 5:15 p.m. $25-$30.;
