Re: “City effort aimed at increasing accountability of local landlords

Nice web site, but there aren't any phone numbers or email addresses as of yet. What good is it then?

Re: “Our quest to become a ‘City of the Arts’

Not long ago, someone felt that Rochester needed to have a fast ferry in order to become a "Gateway City".

Now, we feel compelled to build a huge downtown theater so we can call ourselves a "City of the Arts".

Maybe we should just refer to ourselves as the "City that builds expensive projects that ultimately fail, costing taxpayers millions of dollars that they don't have".

Re: “Developers will release Medley Centre plans this week

I think the entire building should be reconfigured to grow medical marijuana. The demand is there and taxpayers would get a break for a change.

Re: “How to reduce poverty: Boost workers' wages

Governor Andrew Cuomo supports raising the minimum wage because he's a savvy politician wanting to get on the right side of a growing movement. What he doesn't say, however, is that people who earn more will pay more taxes and get less entitlements. He's pretty smart to get more taxes and more popular support at the same time.

I am getting so sick of politicians who get double money for half-time jobs trying to get on the good side of the overworked and underpaid. If politicians want to help people, then they should work on cutting government waste, making corporate welfare illegal, and making it possible for everyone to see a doctor, or dentist, and get needed medication at no cost. Being sick is bad enough without having to pay for it.

Re: “Tensions build over a new RBTL theater

A 3,000 seat theater/150-unit residential tower/ retail space/ parking garage is a great fit if your a developer or a construction worker. This sounds like some kind of fast ferry disaster-in-the-making. Mayor Warren needs to back burner this project and focus more on helping people in poverty.

Re: “The long, long road for Cobbs Hill Village

Something to remember is that bigger isn't always better. Surely not everybody will use a fitness center and other common areas, yet all have to pay to maintain these spaces. Somebody has to get paid to vacuum carpets, clean windows, dust horizontal surfaces, control pests, test the alarms, etc. Do you want to tell somebody that they can't splurge on an occasional pizza delivery because of the cost of unwanted amenities?

Re: “Feedback 11/9

In criticizing the project to realign Dewey and Driving Park, Rochester Man is concerned that money is being wasted, and drivers will benefit at the expense of pedestrians. He may be right. But perhaps there's a sharper point to be made.

Let's think about this logically. I can't believe any drivers have ever complained about making a couple extra turns in order to keep going straight on Dewey.

What you have here is poor people with no voice being exploited for the benefit of construction workers and the companies they work for. Those workers, I would imagine don't even live in the city and if they do, I know it's not going to be in that poor neighborhood. So the poor people who live there, whether they work a little , a lot, or not at all, are still contributing to the tax base. But that money they pay is being stolen from them and they might as well be buying magic beans. When this project is finished, the neighborhood will still be just as poor.

Poor suckers. That's what they'll be. Poor suckers.
