OLD-TIME COUNTRY | Yes Ma'am

An acoustic sextet busking on the busy streets of New Orleans, Yes Ma'am evokes a classic 1920's sound with its traditional Americana instrumentation and twangy Southern drawl. Yes Ma'am delivers a jovial mix of folk, roots, and country, and has been dizzying audiences nationwide since releasing its debut album, "Stirrin' Da Mud," in 2012. The band is sure to get you hopping on both feet, rolling through finger-picking solos faster than a whiskey barrel in Nashville. There's a cohesive interplay between foot-stomping quadrilles and somber, bluesy shuffles, creating the soundtrack to a sweltering saloon scene.

Yes Ma'am will perform along with Folkfaces and Holy Locust on Thursday, May 16, 9 p.m. at Photo City Improv, 543 Atlantic Avenue. $10. 451-0047. photocityimprov.com; yesmaam.bandcamp.com
