Adapted by E. P. Dowdall from the Hungarian play Illatszertar by Miklos Laszlo, Parfumerie transports its audience to the 1930s and sets them down in a Budapest cosmetics shop on Vaci Street that’s filled with more gossip and romance than work. This is the romantic comedy that inspired The Shop Around the Corner, In the Good Old Summertime, You’ve Got Mail, and the musical She Loves Me.
