In this workshop lead by Instructor Katherine Marino, students will practice basic principles of contemporary partnering: students work with weight-sharing, improvisation, and trust while balancing, lifting, and climbing on each other in creative ways. Differing from more classical forms of dance or acrobatic partnering, we approach this technique without the traditional roles of “base/flier” or “leader/follower.” Instead, roles will be in constant flux, sometimes unsure of who is lifting and who is being lifted. Individuals of all genders and body types welcome.
