PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

The Penfield Public Library will be closed Saturday, June 29 for the Penfield town parade. The library will be open Saturdays from 10 AM- 1 PM effective July 6 through August 31. The library will be closed Sundays effective June 30 – August 25.

Sweet Bites: A Taste of Poetry Over the Lunch Hour

Health Care Navigator Session

Wednesday Teas Book Review

Antique Roses

During the month of June, Jane Knoeck, President of the Greater Rochester Rose Society, will discuss old garden roses – linking the past and the present.
Book Discussion Group

Penfield Librarian Kim Catalanello hosts the monthly Book Discussion Group meeting. This month's selection is The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd, led by Roberta Miller. Copies of the book will be available at the circulation desk beginning May 16.

A Universe of Stories: The 2019 Summer Reading Game Grades 6-12, Monday, June 24-Wednesday, July 31.
Earn a scratch-off ticket every day you visit the library and every time you complete a reading or activity challenge. Visit the library’s Info Desk to get started. Prizes furnished by generous local businesses and the Friends of Penfield Public Library. No registration required.
A Universe of Slimes

Donuts with Dad/Grandpa Story Time

For ages 3-7, with Dad and/or Grandpa. It’s almost Father’s Day and we’re going to celebrate with a special story time devoted to dads. We’ll hear stories and sing songs in honor of fathers and enjoy some tasty donuts, too! Make sure to bring your dad and/or grandpa for this delightful evening. Registration begins Wednesday, May 29 for Penfield town or school district residents and Wednesday, June 5 for all others.
Tiny Explorers
Friday, June 14 & July 19, 11:00-11:45 AM
For ages 12-23 months, with an adult. Come let your little ones discover and play as they learn to socialize with other children. No registration required.
Summer Stories ‘N’ More Story Times
Tuesdays, June 25-August 6, 10:30 – 11:00 AM
For children ages 3-6. Preschoolers are invited to enjoy stories, songs, and finger plays presented by our children’s librarian. Parents/caregivers are welcome, but not required to attend. Older siblings are also welcome. No registration required.
Summer Family Story Times
Mondays, July 1-August 5, 10:30 – 11:00 AM
For children of all ages, with an adult. Families are invited to enjoy stories, songs, and finger plays presented by our children’s librarian. This program is geared for toddler and pre-school children not yet comfortable leaving their parent/caregiver. No registration required.
BLAST OFF with the Spaced Out Sci-Fi Show with Cris Johnson
Thursday, June 27, 11:00-11:45 AM
For ages 5 and up; parents welcome. Don’t miss our summer kick-off show where Cris will use a teleportation device to allow kids to transport milk across the room, create some gross Martian juice from one child’s shoe, bring a drawing of a space alien to life, and much more. Registration begins Thursday, June 13 for Penfield town or school district residents and Thursday, June 20 for all others.
BLAST OFF with Parent/Child Book Group

For children in entering grades 3 -5, accompanied by a parent. "Please read My Journey to the Stars" by Scott Kelly and come prepared to discuss your favorite parts. Books will be on hold at the circulation desk to check out. No registration required.
BLAST OFF with Library LEGO Lab

For children ages 6-11 years. Do you love to build with LEGOs? Come join other LEGO fans for our Library LEGO Lab! We will provide all the LEGOs, you bring your imagination. Registration begins Friday, June 14 for Penfield town or school district residents and Friday, June 21 for all others.
