Re: “Interest in charters remains high

My daughter attended Rochester Prep from 6th thru 8th grades. I pulled her out of the city schools when she was in 5th grade. I wasn't happy with what they were telling me that she was behind in reading and math which I knew wasn't the case. I spent a lot of time when she was younger, reading to her and getting her to read early before 1st grade. Once I made the move to the charter school, everything changed! She hated it at first but ended up loving it by the end of 8th grade. She went into HS ahead of her 9th grade peers in english and math. Things she learned in 6th, 7th and 8th grade, they were just getting to in 9th grade. And we're talking a suburban school (which I won't name here). Charter schools, if you pick the right one work. Parents, listen to your heart AND your child and do what's best for THEM!
