Re: “Should the city sell its water?

Selling the water department makes perfect sense. First it will generate 100 million or so, but, hidden is the elimination of costs of maintenance and replacement of aging info-structure. This is a logical decision!

Re: “Assembly member Bill Nojay has died

Tom Janowski,

It is funny, but, I listened to Bill Nojay, I read his posts on social media, I followed his career, and I knew him personally. I have heard him speak of why the Safe Act should be repealed, why he was opposed to the Governor and his policies, why he was offended about ignoring upstate. But, I never heard him say anything hateful or intolerant, in fact, I know one of his friends who came out and Bill supported him every step!

But, I also went back and read many of your posts on this site. Angry and hateful are not terms that should be associated with Bill Nojay...I invite people to read your posts and come to their own conclusions.

Re: “Assembly member Bill Nojay has died

Tom Janowski,

Your comments are ill informed, insensitive, and inappropriate! Bill Nojay, though you may not have liked his political beliefs, worked hard for this community over many years. It is hard to imagine that you believe that it is okay for you to post your vile thoughts for all of us to have to read when someone has obviously chosen to end his life. Hate and intolerance on Nojay's part? No, Mr. Janowski, your post fits those categories!

Re: “UPDATED: Bello says Dinolfo is messing with his budget

No, more accurate is that Bello is already running for County Exec in 3 years and using press conferences to do it. He could easily walk across the hall to the County Exec office and deal with issues. This is political grandstanding and the media is buying into it.

Re: “Removal of airport artwork causes turbulence

Larry Champoux,

Ann Burr is an accomplished woman whose husband was the President of the NYS Bar Association. Rothschild ran the Lincoln Group radio station sales efforts, the largest radio group in Rochester. There is not one "crony project" in the airport that I can see, perhaps you could point one out.

Also, serving on the COMIDA board at no compensation as Burr does, or working to get Lovely Warren elected as Rothschild (not Maggie BFF) did somehow makes your allegations seem more like an angry and empty post than anything of substance. I went back and read many of your posts...that is the continual pattern...angry and of little substance rather than thoughtful!

Re: “Reilich addresses I-Square remarks, again

Don Sherman is in many ways right! Here are the reasons:

1. If a Republican was accused of not completing a Comida deal, City would comb through the campaign filings to see if that Republican was a contributor. In this case, if you did that, you would see that the Nolan's are substantial Democrat contributors!

2. There are 4 parties to the agreement Nolan violated....him, the town, school district, and Comida. How do we know that the town did not agree to his building a smaller building than proposed because he is a contributor? Why did they issue a permit for a smaller building when they were party to an agreement for a larger one?

3. Why would Nolan not know he was in violation of the agreements...he is the one that choose to build a smaller building from the one proposed.

4. He has acted like a political spokesperson, calling for the resignation of the head of Comida, investigations, admonished the County Exec. called the forced out operative a "fall guy"...yet no one looks at this agenda...not have to build what he agreed to build.

5. On his I square Facebook page he proudly talks about "standing ovations" and posts pictures of him and Louise Slaughter, pictures of Adam Bello...but there is also a picture of what he was supposed to build including a 3 story building he replaced with a glorified garage!

Now, to be sure, City is a Democrat publication. But, Nolan appears to be a Democrat contributor acting like a victim. Isn't it time to look objectively at the issues in question?...Did he build what he was supposed to?...No. Did he receive a public benefit and tax breaks? Yes!

It is time for Nolan to be looked at! If he was a Republican you would be all over these issues and the story would be a different one in tone...sorry, that is true!

Re: “Reilich goes to war with Irondequoit

I guess because the media here is Rochester is not connecting the dots here, or, worse, because they like the "titillation" story more than facts, let me answer the questions that remain unanswered...after which time you will say "Thank you Captain Obvious"

First, Reilich had an unbelievable inside source of information...the internet! Comida on their website showed what the Nolan's were supposed to build (and did not) a 15,000 square foot three story building.

Second, that means the Nolans, who built the building knew they were in default, not one had to tell them...they built the building! Duh!

Third, as reported, but not yet analyzed, there is a new attorney for Comida beginning in January so the new attorney may not have caught up with the legal notification work yet.

Forth, street talk has been about financial problems at I Square...nothing new here, just brought to the forefront when Adam Bello was named County Clerk along with the secret internet source of the building not being built. People talked last summer about the difficulty in dealing with banks in this environment and liked and worried about I Square.

Fifth, why did Bello not act as aggressively or publicly as he did against Congel? First, time, Nolan was a newer developer not complying...and, again, using the internet and checking financial filings, it appears that the Nolans are significant political contributors to Bello! Hopefully that is a coincidence!
