Re: “Cuomo wins primary against Nixon

Tom J....Actually to be a member of the House of Representatives, one must be a citizen for a minimum of 7 years, 25 years of age, and a resident of the state where they are running for the seat. These are the minimum standards. To assume that anyone who can meet those standards is also qualified to be in the House is to set the bar so low as to make the office meaningless. Which is what those backing candidates with no practical credentials for office are in danger of doing. I have to agree with Jack. Watching and talking about what others are doing may be good training to be a voyeur or town gossip but it's of no value in running a country.

Re: “Feedback 6/6

Perhaps City Newspaper can research all the publicly-subsidized civic improvement projects in Rochester over the past 25 years and see which ones, if any, lived up to the hype and eventually gave the taxpayers a positive return on their investment.

Re: “Barnhart, McFadden, Morelle, and Wilt seek Slaughter's seat

Barnhart? Didn't we learn from Trump that a TV personality with no relevant political experience. Let Rachel start at the bottom on a town board or county legislature like Morelle did.

Re: “Candidates file for Congressional races

Pretty sad that Rachel Barnhart's supporters seem to feel that the only way they can counter the argument that she has no experience in government and should get some seasoning by first serving in local office, and hence should get her feet wet by serving on local office, is by throwing out the canard that she's being opposed because of her gender. Try being honest guys. No one is opposing her on those grounds.

Re: “VIDEO: Is the Wegmans parking lot really that bad?

A VERY bad idea. Those using Wegmans parking lot for a short cut do not interfer with shoppers to any great degree. Putting up a barricade will simply mean that they'll drive around it using the parking aisles, which WILL tie up traffic. Also, the barricade WILL be a major inconvenience for those of us shopping there who are driving from one side of the lot to the other looking for a parking space. Hopefully some one in Wegmans' management will figure this out soon and get rid of this roadblock. The solution to the parking lot problems, real and imaginary, is for the city to return Probert street to a two-way street and ban all on-street parking.

Re: “Rochester plans a riverfront renaissance

David - I believe it's "only" $50 million, not $500 million that has been handed toLovely and Bob by Andy.

Re: “Rochester plans a riverfront renaissance

Duffy tried to stick the city with his asinine "re-watered" aqueduct just before he left to become Cuomo's Jr. Assistant Gov. I thought the idea had died a well-deserved death at that time. Now, like Frankenstein's monster, "It's Alive It's ALIVE"! Any and all public concerns over the impossibility of re-routing traffic over the remaining bridges, the safety risks of removing the city's busiest street level traffic bridge, the loss of 100+ parking spaces, and the laughable idea that, if we build it tourists will come", will be summarily ignored and Duffy will finally get his way....while the rest of us get the shaft. And like Bill Johnson's ferry fiasco, Duffy's Dream will get media hype and support all the way down the line. Except that we won't be able to sell off THIS White Elephant the way we did the ferry.
