Wednesday is the one-month anniversary of the shooting, and most of the participating students will walk out of their schools at 10 a.m. and stay outside for 17 minutes to commemorate each of the 17 Parkland victims. (McQuaid students and faculty will gather in the school auditorium for a student-led prayer service.)

In Rochester, Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams notified district families that the district supports students who want to participate, as well as those who choose not to. "This is an opportunity to help our students find their voices," she said. And she encouraged families to discuss the issue with their children.

The following local schools have said that they're participating:

Allendale Columbia
